Pastured Eggs
Our hens access acres of lush green pasture in the spring, summer and fall. In winter they are moved inside to our perminent coop with free access to winter pasture during dailight hours.
Our pasture raised hens live in a portable henhouse called "Egg-Mobile" by Joe Salatin and free range from it daily. Our Egg-Mobile is moved approximately every three days or so to minimize pasture overutilization. Our hens eat local grains, grass, bugs and sanitize the pasture just like birds in nature acting as biological cleansers.
Above is a photo of two eggs one is farm fresh (top) and the other (bottom) is a conventional store bought egg. The yolk of the farm fresh egg is much thicker and darker in color in comparison to the store bought egg and the fresh egg white is much clearer too. The color and consistency of the yolk and egg white are primarily due to the chicken’s diet and nutritian obtained from fresh pasture.
